In 1797 Deborah Gannett wrote her memoir that recounted her service during the Revolutionary War. Mrs. Gannett wanted so badly to fight for the liberation of her country that she cut her hair and joined the American Revolution under the assumed name Robert Shurtleff. Could this 1797 dime have been used to publish one of the first issues of this patriot’s memoirs?
