1855-O LIBERTY SEATED 50C, ARROWS MS66
ARROWS. GEM SURFACES. ONLY 3 COINS GRADED HIGHER.
In 1855, a steamship docked at Hampton Roads, Virginia after returning from a voyage to the West Indies. Unbeknownst to anyone onboard, the ship had carried back mosquitoes in the ships cisterns that would be released and cause an epidemic of Yellow Fever in the Virginia towns of Norfolk and Portsmouth, killing roughly 3,000 people. This 1855 seated liberty half dollar recalls the tragic outbreak.
