WONDERFUL CIVIL WAR ERA GEM. ONLY 1 COIN GRADED HIGHER AT NGC.
1863 saw the Battle of Chancellorsville of the Civil War. The battle was fought between 133,000 Union soldiers commanded by Major General Joseph Hooker and 60,000 Confederate soldiers led by General Robert E. Lee. During the eventual Confederate victory, which is argued by many to be the greatest Confederate victory of the war, each side suffered significant casualties and the Confederate side lost one of their most respected Generals; Stonewall Jackson. This 1863 quarter recalls one of the most noteworthy battles of the Civil War.
