In San Francisco the cascade at Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park was first turned on. In 1894 it was dedicated and named Huntington Falls after Collis P. Huntington, who contributed $25,000 for the project. This 1893 dime, minted in San Francisco, may have been used to pay for the finishing touches of the still-standing water feature.
