In 1912, Fenway Park was completed in Boston, Massachusetts. The land was purchased and developed by John Taylor, a man whose family owned Fenway Realty which many cite as the origin of the parks name. The first game at the park was played on April 20, 1912 and the first pitch of the game was thrown by Mayor John F. Fitzgerald, grandfather of future president John F. Kennedy. This 1912 nickel may have been present for the historic game.
