Gem PR66 PCGS 1913 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle with matte proof surfaces and the strong, sculptural character associated with Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ celebrated design. The obverse depicts Liberty striding forward with torch and olive branch, while the reverse features an eagle in flight above the rising sun. The 1913 proof belongs to the short series of matte-finish Saint-Gaudens proofs produced between 1908 and 1915, and the proof format is substantially scarcer than the regular circulation issues. PCGS records this PR66 as tied for the highest certified grade, placing it at the top of the known grading population.
