In 1814, during the War of 1812, British and Canadian troops marched into Washington DC and set flame to much of the city including the White House. In what can only be described as a miracle, a hurricane hit the town and quenched the fires and a tornado forced the British troops to withdraw from the city. This 1814 cent recalls the "Storm that Saved Washington".
