Coin Description

VERY CHOICE AND EXTREMELY FLASHY LUSTROUS SPECIMEN. JUST FOUR MS62 COINS GRADED HIGHER AT PCGS.

This is one of the most plentiful CC-mint Double Eagles in today's market, but it is still scarcer than the 1875-CC, 1876-CC and 1890-CC in terms of total number of coins believed to have survived.  Nevertheless, the '74-CC is a popular coin for inclusion in collections and investment portfolios seeking a representative of Type II Twenty-Dollar production at this fabled frontier-era mint.  Most examples that we encountered in the numismatic market grade no higher than EF-45.
