1874 GOLD G$1, TYPE 3 PCGS PR65+ Deep Cameo CAC

For specialists, this PCGS PR65+DCAM 1874 Gold gold dollar, Type 3 offers mirrored fields, contrasting frosted devices, and proof finish in a technically important format. Small-format gold issues place unusual emphasis on surface preservation, strike, and originality because the fields reveal handling quickly. From a scarcity standpoint, the issue is notable: only 20 were struck, and it is reported as the sole highest graded. The proof manufacture gives the design a different visual presence than regular coinage, making surface originality especially important. Its importance rests on more than grade alone: attribution, surface character, and context all contribute to its appeal.
