1878 INDIAN PRINCESS $3 PCGS PR66 Deep Cameo

With a PCGS grade of PR66DCAM, this 1878 INDIAN PRINCESS $3 brings together technical preservation and issue-specific appeal. The first impression is one of mirrored fields, deep cameo contrast; high-grade preservation, a useful indication of how carefully the piece has been preserved. The three-dollar gold denomination had a short and unusual role in American coinage, making high-grade survivors especially interesting to gold specialists. The Bass pedigree adds a further layer of provenance, a point of real interest to collectors who track important cabinets. Original production is recorded at only 20 pieces. The reported census of 2 at this grade and 1 finer underscores its limited certified availability. The coin has natural appeal for advanced gold collectors who emphasize originality and certified quality.
