In 1919, President Wilson set out on a railroad journey that would take him throughout the country. The President feared that the Treaty of Versailles would lead to another war, had seen the public opinion surrounding it and, and feared that the Senate would it. The President decided to travel the country to promote his own version of a WWI treaty. This 1919 half dollar recalls a successful yet grueling journey by the President that many believe caused the stroke he suffered shortly after.
